audeo again :)

here is the new version as created by joshua. :)
Posted by sara at March 5, 2005 01:35 PMfirst off, i really like the pegasus mark, it clues me in a bit to the greekness of audeo (but it is still audio). However, i like the idea of greek mythology and it's link to imagination and creativity.
i am not feeling the affected type, it is too much. It is not showing clarity of thought, which i think a design studio mark should, it is just showing dirt, it doesn't have any purpose, and i assume that you might have been doing it to make the type and the mark work together better, but i think the old type with the new mark would work great. Also, the two items are not holding together now, they feel too separate, they need less space between them, or a different arrangement.
ahah, you know what would make this sssswwwweeeet, is if the negative space on the pegasus was somehow a hand or a pencil or something that could have to do with design or just something, to give it another level of thought. just a thought.
so to recap, like the mark, not the type. keep the type simple and readable, and don't make it do what the mark is trying to do. either your type is your mark, or your mark is your mark. and maybe play around with different arrangments.
Posted by: winslow at March 8, 2005 10:53 AMThanks for the comment Winslow. I'm really glad you like the pegasus mark. The idea for that was definitely a pleasing revelation for me.
Those are good points about the arrangement and type. I wasn't totally comfortable with the arrangement, but that just seemed to be the best place for little pegasus to go. It does feel like it maybe needs something different or a little more, like you said.
The reason we like the affected dirty type is we are designing the web site to have an old paper texture dirtiness, so that type seems to fit splendidly in that setting. Of course standing on its own, it probably doesn't work so well, and maybe that look as a whole might be too much for what we want to accomplish. So I'm definitely open to cleaning it up and trying the old type with the mark. I'll play around with it a bit and post some different ideas.
Thanks again for the input. It is much appreciated.

Posted by: josh at March 8, 2005 01:06 PMSlow, you took all my comments. - I also enjoy the Pegasus, but thought there was a complete disconnect b/w the clean lines of it, and the dirty text. I would suggest trying to either make the type clean, or the Peg dirty. But, it's really nice. I'm a fan of the red also.
However, I wouldn't count on having the Peg clue me into the “Greekness” of your name. I still try and make out Audio, like maybe the wing is an ear...I dunno. And while I love the name of my company, imagine having to spell it out to every one. (ME: GoldKrush, THEM: Crush?, ME: Uhhh, no, Krush with a K.) Just a taste of the future for ya.
Posted by: angie at March 8, 2005 03:21 PMmy comments always suck compared to you design genuises... is that how you spell that? arg! words! i just wanted to mention that i thought that the red logo thing was a squirrel at first. A squirrel eating a nut. but, no one else seemed to have that problem so you are probably safe. thats all i am commenting on, logos are not my thang. arg logos! i do know that i have a good happy feeling when i look at it so.... thats good.
