i guess i hadn't checked here in a while, this has been up for days with no comments.

is this 4-color? or did you plan some fancy overprints (it may still be 4-color with overprints)

i like everything about this except the people, they feel like an afterthought right now when they really are probably a very important part of the program. also with their color they get lost in the tree color. (this next statement is in no way racist) Maybe they should have been brown? and why the gray for the steeple and the tree trunks? how come the color behind the text at the bottom?

i like the warmth of the colors, definitely makes it feel inviting and nice, i would've liked to see more figure/ground going on with all the shapes and how that could play with a reduction of colors. like, say with the light green tree, that could be white space, same with maybe the roofs of the buildings? i don't know, but positive/negative relationships are always nice in marks.

Too busy to make a long comment...but i agree with Slow about the people, but I think it goes with a even larger issue I have with it...there's too much stuff there. Have you tried to minimalize what you can (i.e. taking out windows, maybe only having one foreground tree...)? I realize that the logo it self is a tall order b/c they want everything, and you did a good job at that. Also, I'm not a huge fan of the "flesh color" of your background.

it was the minimal of minimals
until the client saw it. i had 2 houses way to the left and the roof line went straight to the ground on the other side.. there was no church, windows, doors, smoke, flesh colored background.. the text was simple.. and i had this awesome guy pounding on the roof with a sledgehammer. kind of industrial/russian. uh maybe i should scan in the thumbnails. it captured more of a physical action of rebuilding. however, didn't have a happy churchy/community feel which they wanted

well they really didn't dig it. and slowly my beautiful logo evolved. they were suprising particular. (they asked me to extend the tan color to behind the letters to think of it like ground.) However, i think that it worked out ok even though i do notice certain things that im not particularly happy with. however, i think that maybe if i spent more time on this i might of been able to figure those things out well. (like the people that look like an afterthought) but, wilbankselam gave me strict time constraints because we were doing it for free. (they wanted me to work harder on paid accounts which is what i did)

i am going to post up a brochure soon that goes along with this. i think seing the logo in context will help abit. (definately not a sign of a good mark.. but i am content with what i came up with given the circumstances)

maybe i should post some things up mid-stream. that way i can change them before its too late. (like now) ha!

oh and i couldn't realy come up with another color for the people within the feel and without implicating race. i would say suggestions would be good, however it's too late.

i vow from now on to put logos up when there is still time for changes.
