just set the new winslow taft record for time without sleep, 48 hours. with 46 of those hours spent in the computer lab! time to sleep now...

this is crazy... i mean

this is crazy... i mean i pull three all nighters this week and just sleep during the day and basically become completely nocturnal by the end of this week, and i finally get a night to sleep and what do i do, I avoid it. i guess that because all i have really been doing this week is design and sleeping, that i just really want to be awake and relaxed and just doing something that has no purpose at all. which is why i am typing this. and also because cary gets angry when there are no new posts. speaking of cary he has finally updated his site (to some extent--no links work) but at least he is posting again. he also do other cool stuff which i could tell you here but you might as well just read about it on his site.

also, a week or so ago i found this website that you can just upload your poster designs to and let other people see them and comment on them, so i did just that. and you can see it here . you should also read the comments because one of them is kinda funny meaning stupid funny.

hmmmm... i wish i had something meaningful and profound to say to you people (whoever you are) that read this, but it seems that my brain has failed me once again and left me without thoughts to fill this void of space on a server somewhere in philadelphia or something. it seems that i am really only even typing this because i am waiting for my pictures to download off of my digital camera and it is taking a while. but now it has finished and i believe i will be going to bed, because i am going climbing all day tomorrow. fun fun

well the weekend proved fairly

well the weekend proved fairly uneventful. Saturday was spent in a caffiene deprived state of mind fog (whatever that means) and today was a bit better. no major revelations on thesis yet, but getting closer. one thing...

i was doing research and looking for copy for the booklet on stopping school violence for thesis so i was reading all these web forums where students can post whatever they are feeling and thinking, it was all pretty depressing (unless these kids are lying) some of the school conditions described in these posts were just rediculous, i mean one kid said that he or she did have one textbook from before 1978 and a math book from 1958, can you imagine? i know that these schools a probably few and far between, but just the fact that they are there is pretty sad. also to listen to these kids complain about how there teachers and principals and guidance counselers are awful and completely uninspiring is even worse. i mean, i remember those days, what is it that makes everything sooo bad in high school. this is a question that has been bugging me all semester. and how can we make it better or tell the kids that it will be better? any answers or comments email me well enough depressing thoughts for tonight. bedtime

3 weeks and counting until

3 weeks and counting until my thesis is due. yeah... so that is my basic plan for the weekend. DO THESIS. and figure stuff out. but before i can do that, i think i will go bouldering this afternoon, which should be awesome because the weather is amazing for the first time this week. good stuff

besides thesis, i am going to start on another letterpress poster for my independent study class too, i have some thumbnails for it now and am really liking it. but it is only going to be a two color piece so it shouldn't take me half as long as the last one, thank goodness.

unfortunately not much of interest has been happening lately, so i don't have much to say. maybe this weekend will prove more eventful. but probably not seeing as how i will be WORKING the whole time!!!! ok enough complaining. NOW I MUST CLIMB!

i am making a comeback

a note about me and cary and digital sucks:
our goal is to be some of the main people on the site, liek have our photos go back to back a bunch of times liek some of the other folks on there. basically we want to be considered regulars! and we are fast achieving our goal.

so when i woke up

so when i woke up this morning it was pouring down rain and i was very tempted to go back to sleep and wake up late and do work instead of climbing, but i went a head and went. It turned out to be a very good decision, because by the time we made it to the canyon it was sunny and warm and perfect, well maybe a little warm, but it wasn't summer. so we had a good day of climbing at lizard wall. the most notable occurance of the day had to of been when jody and greg both walking in front of me walked right by a snake without seeing it. of course when i almost stepped on it it moved a bit and i saw it. it only freaked me out A LITTLE. but it didn't strike at me so its all good. i kinda thought it was going to for a second, but i got out of its way quick. anyways, on the way back by it again, i managed to get a little video of some of the guys kinda messing with it video. it is kinda hard to see the snake and what it going on, but look closely and you will see about a 5ft snake coming towards me as i am filming. anways, it was good to get out and climb routes again for the first time in about a month of more, and i would be lying if i said it was anything but humbling.

i am kinda excited about tonight because we are springing forward (which is bad because we are losing an hour) but it is good because we are off of daylight savings time and all of a sudden we will have a whole nother (what is this grammar?) hour of light in the afternoon, perfect for those late afternoon bouldering sessions. WOO HOO! (like homer) since i will probably sleep forever anyways and we lose and hour, actually we already lost and hour, i should get to bed. tuess!! bis spater!

man i almost forgot THE BEST NEWS!!! (siiiiiiiiikkkkkkeeeee) well it is news. i put more QL17 photos from DC up tonight. look at them here

friday comes around again and

friday comes around again and so goes another week...

this means that my thesis is now due in 4 weeks, got to get to work on that. today should be a good day seeing as how i got to sleep in and i don't have to go directly into work, instead we are having a "happy fun lunch" at some mexican restaurant near my apt. so i am just meeting everyone over there. and then going into work after that. and on top of that, we probably don't have much to do today. (i bet i just really jinxed myself)

last night i finally saw my first alfred hitchcock movie NORTH BY NORTHWEST. it was great, nothing like 50s style and talk. i found it refreshing to not have to hear curse words to show violence or contempt. instead the anger was much more intelligent and probably more hurtful. but that is not what the movie is about and is a very small part. but it was a good movie and i am looking forward to seeing other hitchcock films.

so its time to get lunch, hope everyone has a great friday and weekend. LITTLE RIVER CANYON here i come!!!!!!!!!

got back a roll of 3200 B/W today pulled two stops to 800 so that i could shoot it in my QL17, the photos look good and i will put some up soon. but for now i am going to leave it be and sleep. all is well here. i just need more sleep.
